Family and Friends:

We can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you! Words can't express our appreciation for all you've been and will be in our lives together. As we look forward to October 4, we hope you'll find below almost all (because really, we're bound to have forgotten something) of the pertinent details. Below you'll find information on the ceremony, the reception, travel information for out-of-towners, and some suggestions for fun things to do while you're in Richmond. If we did forget something, or you just feel inclined to write us, please do get in touch here, and your email will be routed to both of us.

Love,

Meghan & Dave

The Ceremony

The wedding itself will be held at Westover Hills United Methodist Church, just a few blocks from our home, at 5:00pm. If you have some time to kill before the ceremony and want to familiarize yourself with our neighborhood, we recommend a short walk to Forest Hill Park. On Saturday morning, you'll find the world's greatest Farmer's Market there from 8am until noon.

Or you could park your car and stroll along the James River via the 42nd Street river access. You might also enjoy a tasty coffee beverage--or a beer!--at Crossroads. We'll feed you later, of course, but we wouldn't blame you if you decided to have a pre-wedding taco at Cielito Lindo, either.

A quick jaunt across the river over the Nickel Bridge (don't let the name fool you: it costs 35 cents to cross) will take you to Maymont; which must be one of the only places in America where you'll find an historic mansion, a Japanese garden, and caged beasts (with a petting zoo, no less!) all in the same facility. Plus, if you're extra lucky and a little bold, you might just be able to crash somebody else's wedding over there before we get started. Don't tire yourself out, but feel free to work out any kinks in your dance moves so you're in good form later on.

The Reception

Your desire to party will take you across the river to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, an awesome art gallery and studio space in the Fan District. The gallery will be open before and during the reception, so feel free to peruse the work while you're there. Please refrain from parking in the lot next to the building. There is a small lot behind the building, though, and we have requested permission to allow you to park around the corner at Binford Middle School (confirmation on that forthcoming). There will also be ample on-street parking nearby.

Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will begin at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:00pm, both catered by MOSAIC. Full and happy, you're not going to be able to resist the dance floor when Affirmative Groove hits the stage.

The whole affair will be documented by the incomparable Eric Laurits, known to us as "Eric the Photoman," whose superhero power would be to blend into a crowd in such a way that guests mention to him that they wonder where the photographer is, even though he has a camera on his shoulder and just took their picture. (Eric: if you're reading this, we hope you like your new name. We use it fondly.)

Travel & Accommodations

If you're coming in from out of town, we've reserved blocks of rooms for Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 at the Richmond Marriott ($135) and the Crowne Plaza Richmond Downtown ($109). If you choose to book by phone, just reference the Chapman-Inman Wedding Block to get the special rates. Both hotels are downtown, close to plenty of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and the state capitol.

Within easy walking distance, you'll find relatively new favorites like Rappahannock, and Pasture, and old standbys like Capital Ale House just a few blocks away. If you've got enough pep in your step to walk another 3-5 blocks (or, if you'd prefer, take a cab), there's more to enjoy in Shockoe Slip than we can list here. When you're finished eating, you can burn off some calories strolling along the Canal Walk. In the morning, get yourself a coffee at the Urban Famhouse while you cruise the cobblestones.
